Question by Scotty F: Is it safe to rent a big screen TV for a wedding at this time of year?
Situation: Invited to a wedding today. Everything has been planned long in advance. At a New Year’s Eve party, the bride and groom said, “don’t worry, if there is a game the same day, we are going to rent a TV.” Can’t miss the playoffs. Earlier this week, the groom said, “no, all of the attention needs to be on the bride and not the game. There will be more games, but only one wedding.”

The real question, how devious is it to rent one anyway and have it in another room at the banquet hall? Will they get away with it or ruin the day?

*No it’s not me, but yes, it’s going to happen tonight. Glad I’m not there….
Again, I’M NOT THERE. I couldn’t make it, but I was made aware of the conversations.

That’s horrible, you can’t do that. If I was the bride I would, literally, scratch your eyes out. Why not spend my wedding night in jail? You’ve already ruined it.

The wedding should be about the bride, but there is always the reception after wards. What ya do, get the person who did the wedding in that bud light commercial from the super bowl, have him do the service 15 min before puck drop. You go to the reception and instead of music, you have the game. it’s the only way to go. you can not miss out on playoff hockey. They both already said: “don’t worry, if there is a game the same day, we are going to rent a TV”. if anything they should be happy cause they won’t have to pay for the TV if you rent it.

    Yeah sorry, that’s kinda bad.

I’d give up playoff tickets AND U2 tickets in a heartbeat to go to a wedding. If there is any purpose on this planet greater than falling in love, getting married, and making babies…then I have not heard of it.

(Well I’m a Catholic, so I think being a priest is pretty important too)

    but you get the point…

Had a similar situation for game 7 between the Flames and Lightning in 2004. That was the last game of the season, of course, whereas your desire is to catch game 2 of the semis.

Can’t advise renting a tv or trying to watch the whole game, but sneaking off to the hotel bar every period for a 5 minute taste is not out of the question. Tivo would be another modern day solution.

Yes, make it a wedding present … lol. You know all the men will appreciated it.

If JK Nation is a guy he’s a real sap. I think he is because he said something about priesthood. P.s. U2 is the worst band ever i would give up tickets to go die. Go for the TV, man. Be a man. Think about Arnold. Whenever you are stating to be a girly guy qoute arnold in his voice like ” NO GIRLY MAN!!” or ” WE DRINK BEER NOT MILK!!!!” Weddings are only good for the free beer. If there was a wedding with free beer and a big screen tv, it would be heaven. Go for the TV

The question is- what did the bride say??? lol

If this was my wedding I’d schedule it around the game and play it at the reception. Im kinda like the woman in the commercial where she finds the men in a closet with a TV and she asks what the score is.

As a part time wedding planner it’s been requested that things be scheduled around games! I guess the Bride n Groom know their priorities lol…..

HOWEVER- if they say no- dont do it out of respect. Its just so wrong- Id be horrified if I had said no (for some reason) and people were watching a game at my reception
